Geographical Origin and Habitat: Outer reefs and lagoons of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and Palau, at depths of 10 to 40 meters.

Taxonomy and Morphology: Family Labridae. Slightly larger than other fairy wrasses, reaching 12 cm in length. Elongated body.

Social Behavior: Peaceful, active schooling wrasse. Males display to females and defend temporary territories in open water.

Coloration and Sexual Dimorphism: Males are reddish-brown with a broad yellow mid-lateral stripe and blue highlights. Females are reddish-pink.

Care, breeding and tankmates

Aquarium Setup: Requires a tank of at least 200 liters with plenty of live rock shelters and open water columns. Standard marine lighting.

Diet and Feeding: Carnivorous. Feed twice daily with frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking marine pellets.

Water Quality: High water quality with stable marine salinity. Efficient mechanical and chemical filtration via skimmer is recommended.

Compatibility and Cohabitation: Reef-safe. Excellent with other peaceful reef-safe species. Do not house with aggressive wrasses.

Aquarium Breeding: Pelagic spawner. Captive breeding is not documented in domestic aquaria.

Risks and Diseases: Strong jumper; a secure tight lid is absolutely mandatory to prevent escapes.
