The 'Panda King' Isopod. The perfect entrance ticket to the luxurious world of Asian Cubaris (0.5 - 0.6 inches). Very cute and unmistakable, it absurdly recalls the colors of a giant Panda bear: half of the upper body, the head and the rear are of a clear metallic anthracite-black, while a wide opalescent-white or peach/cream band (in the 'Peach Panda' morph) vertically cuts the thorax in half. Reproduces much faster than the Duckies but still demands asphyxiating tropical peats.

Species description
Geographical Origin and Habitat: Very humid Thai karst jungles, under dense layers of rotting soil, live moss and clayey caves.
Taxonomy and Genetics: Family Armadillidae. (The Cubaris for Extreme Beginners). Among all the unclassified oriental species (Cubaris sp.), the Panda King is the only one that has shown a decent tolerance to domestic errors, an accelerated reproduction rate (churns out babies in 'only' 3 months) and a slightly reduced but very domed size. The albino morph ('Pink Panda') also exists.
Behavior and Habits: Lively underground pandas. While maintaining the elusive and hypogeal Asian nature (they hate direct light like vampires), Panda Kings are visibly more active and hungry than a Jupiter. They voraciously dig infinite tunnels in the deep peat, transforming the entire lower substrate into dust and violently crowd on putrefied zucchini sheltered from the sun (if you lift a stone during the day you will see them escape very quickly rolling into a ball to hide).
Morphology: Total domed enameled 'barrel-like' dome (Up to 0.6 inches / 1.5 cm). Very cute, short and stubby. It literally wears the dress of a Panda bear or an Asian Cinta Senese piglet: the black shiny armored head fades into the corpulent center of the body which is a large diaphanous ivory white/dirty pink cylindrical block ('Pink Panda' is neon peach and pale yellow). The rear is solid black again.
