Terrarium Setup: Smooth-sided plastic or glass tub of at least 40x30x30 cm. Provide stacked egg flats for hiding spots. Substrate is optional if kept solely as a feeder colony.

Lighting and Heating: Requires warm conditions: day temp 26-30°C. Temperatures below 20°C will halt breeding cycles. No UVB lighting is required.

Humidity and Hydration: Moderate humidity of 50-70%. Lightly spray one wall of the tub weekly for hydration, ensuring no standing water remains on the floor.

Feeding and Supplementation: Omnivorous scavenger. Feed dry grain mixes (oats, wheat bran) and high-protein dog kibble, supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables (carrots, apples).

Compatibility: Peaceful and highly gregarious. Can be kept in high-density colonies of hundreds of individuals. Widely used as a highly nutritious feeder insect.

Health and Common Diseases: Very hardy and low-maintenance. Mold and mite infestations are the primary risks if humidity is too high or ventilation is poor.
