Aquasky Moon 601

AQUASKY MOON 601 is the higher-output AQUASKY variant for 60 cm tanks. Its aluminium light uses an acrylic stand with a rear MIRROR UNIT: the reflector body is stainless steel and the mirror is acrylic. This profile keeps the dossier’s editorial structure while removing undocumented tests and restricting every number to direct ADA manuals and research.

It is for owners of a 60 cm rimless tank included in the official formats who want the complete MOON configuration with its dedicated reflector. It should not be treated as a standard 601 plus a generic accessory: the MOON manual documents a specific assembly. The stated extra light does not replace an assessment of the layout, cultivated species and overall aquarium management.

Correct selection therefore starts with the tank rim and stand, not with an automatic preference for the highest-output model. When replacing an older unit, compare the complete name on the label, power-supply type, stand and every included part. Components can look similar while belonging to different versions; this profile does not declare them interchangeable unless ADA documentation does so explicitly. If doubt remains, stop and verify the documentation rather than forcing an uncertain component to fit.

The unit uses 100 white LEDs rated at 0.4 W each, consumes 50 W at 1500 mA ±5% and is rated at 4250–4450 lm around 7000 K. ADA describes the MOON lamp as approximately 1.5 × brighter than regular AQUASKY models. The MIRROR UNIT redirects light toward the rear; the official publication demonstrates this under a defined test distance, not as a universal performance guarantee.

Stated luminous flux describes source output, but it cannot by itself show how light reaches every part of the aquarium. The stand, water level, reflective surfaces, wood, rock and plant mass all alter shadow and distribution. The light is best understood as a simple fixed-output system: choose the compatible model, install it in the documented position and observe the real layout, without turning a nameplate value into a biological promise.

The listed formats are: W60 × D30 × H18 (5 mm); W60 × D30 × H36 (6 mm); W60 × D30 × H45 (6 mm). Intended glass thickness is 5–6 mm, and the manual excludes a W60 × D45 × H45 tank with 8 mm glass. Compatibility applies to CUBE GARDEN and equivalently specified rimless tanks without an ADA guarantee for other aquariums. The stand and MIRROR UNIT must therefore be checked as one dedicated assembly.

Attach the MIRROR UNIT to the stand first without scratching the acrylic, then place the stand on the tank with its legs correctly inside the rim. Secure the light, check stability and clearance from water, and only then connect the supply and switch. The manual notes that night-time aeration may soil the mirror; this is a maintenance consideration rather than a defect.

Before connecting power, perform a complete dry check with the system switched off. The stand should sit without twisting, the light should not slide and the cable should reach the outlet without strain. Inspect acrylic for cracks, clouding or deformation and keep the heat-release areas clear. Repeat these checks after moving the aquarium or carrying out major maintenance rather than assuming that the previous installation remains secure.

Disconnect everything before cleaning. Do not use water above 40 °C, alcohol, thinner or benzene on the stand or mirror. The light is not waterproof, cannot be used with a dimmer and has non-replaceable LEDs. Stop using it if the body becomes wet or the lead is damaged; do not look directly into the LEDs, and keep the adapter, plug and switch away from water.

The documentation does not impose one universal cleaning calendar. A better approach is to inspect dust, deposits, stand stability and cable condition regularly, using only methods allowed by the manual. A visible output change, electrical noise, unusual smell, cracks or loose connections call for shutdown and competent assessment. Because the light source is not user-replaceable, opening or modifying the unit is not an accepted maintenance procedure.
