ADA

ADA is the abbreviation of Aqua Design Amano, the activity started in 1982 by nature photographer and aquarist Takashi Amano. The company now named Aqua Design Amano Co., Ltd. was formally established in 1992 and is headquartered in Niigata, Japan. Amano's work across exploration, photography and aquatic-plant cultivation became the basis of the Nature Aquarium concept.

The catalogue is structured around that method. Glass tanks, cabinets, lighting, filters, CO2 systems, substrates, fertilizers, tools and layout materials are offered as coordinated parts of a planted-aquarium system. The company conducts aquatic-plant research, publishes editorial material and maintains demonstration installations that document composition, growth and long-term maintenance.

ADA's industry role comes from linking underwater landscape design, photography and purpose-built equipment in a recognizable language. The minimal use of glass, metal and visually discreet components also made hardware part of the aquarium's aesthetic. Following Takashi Amano's death in 2015, the Niigata company continued to develop the Nature Aquarium system, its galleries and the international network of distributors and professionals associated with the brand.
