Aquasky 451

AQUASKY 451 belongs to the first AQUASKY family, with an aluminium light unit, heat-release fins and a clear acrylic stand. Its slim form keeps the aquarium top open. This profile concentrates on what ADA actually documents: model identity, installation, electrical data, dimensions and operating limits. Unrepeatable experimental statements in the original dossier have not been carried over.

It is intended for a 45 cm rimless tank that exactly matches one of ADA’s listed formats. Selection cannot rely on nominal width alone: height, depth and glass thickness also matter. The profile does not promise automatic plant results, because useful intensity and distribution depend on tank geometry, water level and the real arrangement of the layout.

Correct selection therefore starts with the tank rim and stand, not with an automatic preference for the highest-output model. When replacing an older unit, compare the complete name on the label, power-supply type, stand and every included part. Components can look similar while belonging to different versions; this profile does not declare them interchangeable unless ADA documentation does so explicitly. If doubt remains, stop and verify the documentation rather than forcing an uncertain component to fit.

The array uses 45 white LEDs rated at 0.4 W each, with a stated color temperature of about 7000 K. The model consumes 22 W, draws 650 mA ±5% and is rated at 1800–2160 lm. The in-line control switches the light on or off; the manual rules out a dimmer. The fins release heat, and the unit becoming warm in use is documented as normal.

Stated luminous flux describes source output, but it cannot by itself show how light reaches every part of the aquarium. The stand, water level, reflective surfaces, wood, rock and plant mass all alter shadow and distribution. The light is best understood as a simple fixed-output system: choose the compatible model, install it in the documented position and observe the real layout, without turning a nameplate value into a biological promise.

ADA lists the following formats for AQUASKY 451: W45 × D24 × H16 (5 mm); W45 × D27 × H30 (5 mm). The intended glass thickness is 5 mm. Compatibility refers to CUBE GARDEN tanks and equivalently specified rimless aquariums; ADA does not guarantee fitting on other tanks. Measure the rim, pane and clearances before installation rather than assuming that every 45 cm aquarium has the same profile.

Fit the correctly sized stand to the rim, seat the light securely and confirm that the assembly is stable before powering it. Prevent the unit from falling into or being immersed in water during installation. Keep the adapter, switch, plug and lead dry, and never pull the cable to unplug it. The product is for indoor aquarium use and must not be placed directly on a surface while operating.

Before connecting power, perform a complete dry check with the system switched off. The stand should sit without twisting, the light should not slide and the cable should reach the outlet without strain. Inspect acrylic for cracks, clouding or deformation and keep the heat-release areas clear. Repeat these checks after moving the aquarium or carrying out major maintenance rather than assuming that the previous installation remains secure.

Disconnect power before cleaning or moving the light. The manual prohibits water above 40 °C, alcohol, thinner and benzene on the unit or stand because they can damage or crack acrylic. The product is not waterproof: stop using it if it gets wet or the lead is damaged. The LEDs are not replaceable, and the light source should not be viewed directly.

The documentation does not impose one universal cleaning calendar. A better approach is to inspect dust, deposits, stand stability and cable condition regularly, using only methods allowed by the manual. A visible output change, electrical noise, unusual smell, cracks or loose connections call for shutdown and competent assessment. Because the light source is not user-replaceable, opening or modifying the unit is not an accepted maintenance procedure.
