The thermostat switches the heating element on and off automatically around the selected temperature. A light in the glass bulb shows when the heater is operating and goes out with the heater when the setting is reached. OASE instructs the owner to check water temperature with a precision thermometer after the unit has operated, and to examine water flow first if the measured result remains low.

If an offset persists, the separate calibration control can realign the setting within the range shown in the table. Correction positions are discrete, and the manual warns against exceeding the available calibration range. Calibration changes the relationship between dial and measured temperature; it does not add heating capacity, cure poor circulation or replace selection of a model appropriate to the actual heat load.

OASE restricts the unit to indoor private aquarium use. It must operate within the documented water-temperature interval, with electrical data matching the supply and plug connections protected from moisture. Protection class and maximum immersion depth are recorded in the table. The minimum immersion mark on the body must also be respected: fully submersible does not mean that placement depth and water level no longer matter.

The supplied suction cups fit into the holder, which attaches to a clean, smooth surface with the heating element pointing toward the aquarium floor and unobstructed circulation around it. Cable, housing and glass must remain intact. If the cable or enclosure is defective, the manual prohibits operation and states that a damaged connection cable cannot be replaced.

Before switching on, immerse the heater at least to its minimum mark and allow it to adapt to the water for the documented waiting time. Route the cable as a drip loop. The unit starts immediately when connected, so position, flow, secure mounting and agreement between rating plate and supply must be checked before energising it rather than corrected after the surface has become hot.

The manual warns of injury from a hot surface. Disconnect the heater and allow it to cool before touching, moving or removing it, and switch off or unplug aquarium equipment before reaching into the water. Cleaning is performed as necessary with clear water and a soft sponge or cloth. OASE rules out cleaning agents and chemical solutions and identifies the suction cup as a wear part. Disconnection and cooling requirements apply before work begins.

Failure to reach temperature can result from missing power, inadequate circulation, calibration or insufficient heating capacity for ambient conditions and water volume. The troubleshooting path therefore starts with those checks and calls for replacing a defective unit; it does not authorise opening the body or making technical changes. Verified strengths include thermostat regulation, a visible indicator, bounded recalibration, complete immersion within the stated depth, an included holder and consistent multilingual instructions.
