Care Magnet Long 0220.015

The Care Magnet family uses two magnetic halves to guide an inner blade carrier from outside the aquarium. Useful dossier concepts are retained: a slim profile, blades of different widths and rounded edges help around plants, corals, corners and silicone seams. This is not, however, a system that guarantees scratch-free panes. The package separates legacy identities from current ones and corrects the commercial name of the smallest variant without changing its catalog address. Dimensions, box contents and glass ranges live in the shared fact table, preventing localized prose from creating conflicting numerical versions. The result is a practical guide anchored to the exact article rather than broad marketing language.

Overview

Who it suits

Selection begins with the actual pane thickness, not aquarium volume alone. Too little coupling makes motion poorly controlled, while an unspecified pairing can make the halves difficult to separate and handle. The smallest variant is intended for thin panes and tight spaces, nano covers an intermediate range, and long and strong belong to progressively thicker glass. Different article generations must not be merged: legacy long and current long share a purpose and general form, but their documented package contents differ. Owners of existing spares should verify the exact article before assuming compatibility. The product table is therefore the deciding reference when names look deceptively similar.

How it works

The two plastic blades apply different pressure: the narrow edge concentrates action on adherent deposits while the broad edge covers more area. Clearance between the inner holder and pane reduces the opportunity for substrate to be dragged beneath a large rubbing face, yet a grain can still lodge under a blade. Smooth lengthwise movement preserves magnetic coupling better than abrupt rotation. Equipped models may use the stainless blade for hard deposits on glass only. Care Booster floaters, solely where the documented package includes them, can help the inner half rise after separation; they do not replace careful operation near the substrate. Cleaning remains a mechanical process whose result depends on deposit, motion and inspection.

Compatibility

The main compatibility boundaries are pane material and thickness. The current manual expressly advises against acrylic use; anyone choosing to try it nonetheless does so at their own risk, using the short plastic blade and meticulously clean surfaces. Stainless blades must not be used on acrylic. Curved panes may be approached carefully because the blades make linear contact, but curvature, joints and decoration constrain the path. Partly magnetic substrate demands additional caution. Similar dimensions do not prove that an accessory belongs with every generation, so article numbers and matching instructions are required. Current and legacy box contents remain distinct even when the model name appears unchanged to a casual reader.

Installation and use

Before use, clean the pane, outside felt, blades and every contact surface. Place the inner half high on the inside and bring the outer half toward it slowly, holding the parts by their sides and never placing fingers between magnetic faces. Work in steady lengthwise passes, avoid forcing corners and inspect more often near the substrate. If the inner half detaches, retrieve it before resuming and check that it collected no particles. A model may remain in the aquarium where the instructions permit, but that does not remove the need for inspection before the next pass. Keep the cleaner away from children, cards, keys, sensitive devices and ferromagnetic objects.

Maintenance

Maintenance is simple but decisive. Rinse the inner part, remove sand and dust, and inspect blade edges for damage. Clean or replace felt and blades when wear leaves tracks or makes movement uneven. On models with replaceable blades, observe the direction and retainers shown in the matching manual; do not improvise combinations between legacy and current parts. Treat the stainless insert as a sharp edge, dry it and store it against accidental contact. Separate magnetic halves with a controlled sideways movement instead of pulling them directly apart, then store them so they cannot close on fingers or nearby objects. A routine visual check prevents ordinary contamination from becoming a glass-damaging event.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths include outside access, low drag, optional use as a hand scraper and geometry that avoids a broad rubbing pad against the pane. The limitations remain material: no cleaner eliminates scratch risk, substrate can reach a blade, acrylic is delicate and magnetic force requires care. Calcareous deposits may need repeated passes or the appropriate blade, and work near the substrate should be slower. Correct selection rests on pane, article identity, supplied parts and spare availability rather than absolute promises. This review preserves plausible practical guidance from the dossiers while removing fabricated tests, unsupported magnetic grades, acoustic claims and guaranteed outcomes. The distinction between reduced risk and impossible certainty is central to responsible use.
