Overview

Red Sea’s official drawing identifies this accessory as ReefLED 90 Universal Mounting Arm and presents a 7-stage assembly. The catalog identity ReefLED 90 Mounting Arm refers to that support, not to the ReefLED 90 fixture, pendant adapter or hanging kit. The drawing also contains a REEFER-specific offset table, making this arm more than a generic metal bracket: its base and horizontal placement must follow the aquarium group shown. The profile separates mechanical facts from lamp facts. The arm instruction supports component sequence and the offset values, while the ReefLED manual supplies the operating clearance, airflow, temperature and moisture rules for the light after it is mounted.

Intended use

Fixture compatibility in this profile is restricted to ReefLED 90 because that is the exact name on the direct instruction. For the listed REEFER applications, dimension A is 0 for REEFER 170/250/350, 38 mm for XL and 75 mm for 3XL/XXL. Those values are configuration offsets from the drawing, not a universal tank-width or glass-thickness range. The official sheet reviewed here does not print a general glass range, so retailer specifications are not promoted to verified facts. Confirm the aquarium group, available rear clearance and supplied parts before work. Do not assume compatibility with ReefLED 50, later G2 fixtures, third-party lamps or every rimmed aquarium.

Exact compatibility

Arrange the components to match the official 7-stage sequence and identify the applicable A position before tightening the base assembly. Seat the aquarium attachment and vertical support as illustrated, then add the horizontal section and ReefLED connection using the supplied hardware. Keep the assembly supported while fasteners are being engaged, and tighten evenly without using hardware to force misaligned parts together. Once the light is attached, check that ordinary contact cannot dislodge the arm or fixture. Red Sea requires tank-mounted appliances to be securely installed. No torque value, substitute bolt specification or improvised spacer is published in the reviewed instruction, so none should be invented for installation.

Installation

The ReefLED manual places the bottom of a ReefLED 90 approximately 21 cm above the water surface. Preserve that relationship while applying the arm’s aquarium-specific offset. Leave the top and sides open for heat dissipation, keep ambient temperature below 25 °C and prevent water from reaching any part of the lamp, especially its DC jack. Put the power supply in a dry, ventilated location and route the lead so aquarium access cannot tug on the fixture. Check clearance for a lid, rear plumbing and maintenance tools before finalizing the position. A correct offset does not override the light’s ventilation, dryness or electrical-safety requirements.

Routing and commissioning

Before normal operation, perform a deliberate mechanical and operational check: verify the correct A setting, confirm every fastener, measure the approximate 21 cm fixture clearance and make sure service access will not strike the support. ReefLED 50 and ReefLED 90 do not have the tilt-switch behavior available on some other models, so raising or tilting the assembly must not be assumed to switch the light off automatically. Use the documented control or power process, and mark the device out of service in ReefBeat when it is temporarily removed. After any movement, return the arm to the intended position and recheck its attachment before restoring normal lighting.

Maintenance

Inspect the aquarium attachment, arm joints and fixture connection whenever salt buildup, maintenance work or accidental contact could have changed them. Disconnect the ReefLED, allow its lens to cool and let the equipment dry before maintenance. Red Sea recommends keeping the light clean, dry and free of salt deposits; the fixture is not waterproof. Clean accessible arm surfaces without loosening the clamp or forcing residue into moving joints. The reviewed arm sheet does not prescribe a calendar interval or a torque schedule, so condition and movement should trigger further inspection. Stop use if there is looseness, deformation, corrosion, missing hardware or a persistent change in the fixture’s height or alignment.
