ReefDose Deluxe Tube Kit
ReefDose Deluxe Tube Kit is Red Sea’s color-coded external tubing accessory for building a traceable path between supplement containers, ReefDose heads and the dosing outlet.
Overview
Red Sea presents the ReefDose Deluxe Tube Kit in the ReefDose accessory range as a four-tube accessory kit, offered in Blue/Green and Yellow/Red versions. Its useful role is organizational as well as hydraulic: separate colors make it easier to follow an individual supplement line from container to pump and onward to its outlet. This profile deliberately treats the kit as external dosing tubing, not as a dosing head, controller or complete container connection system. The official sources support the product identity, the two color variants and the way compatible flexible tubing is connected to ReefDose. They do not support broad claims that every chemical, container or installation layout will be suitable.
Intended use
The kit is intended for a ReefDose installation in which the operator wants visually distinct inlet and outlet runs. Red Sea’s ReefDose manual specifies flexible tubing of approximately 3 mm internal diameter and 5 mm external diameter for the head hose barbs, and recommends tubing that is highly impermeable to air, such as Red Sea’s TPE tubing. The same manual warns that ordinary silicone airline can reduce dosing accuracy. Those statements define the documented connection context; they should not be expanded into universal compatibility with other pumps or fittings. Before installation, confirm the physical hose-barb dimensions and identify which color will represent each supplement on both sides of the dosing head.
Exact compatibility
Installation begins with a planned line map rather than by cutting or attaching tubing at random. ReefDose heads turn clockwise: the manual identifies the left hose barb as the inlet from the supplement container and the right hose barb as the outlet. Remove the head as directed, raise the locking nut, push flexible tubing fully onto the barb until it reaches the nut, then turn the nut over the tube without overtightening. Refit the head and verify that it engages correctly. Repeat the same sequence consistently for every color. A color code is only useful if it remains the same at the container, pump and outlet, so record the chosen mapping before priming.
Installation
Route each inlet without pinching, sharp folding or placing the tube where a cabinet door can crush it. Route each outlet to a suitable point above the sump, as the ReefDose manual instructs, and secure its end so it cannot migrate into an unintended location. If the ReefDose stands on its bottom surface, Red Sea specifically says the dosing tubes must not be restricted. Leave enough service slack to remove a head without pulling on the container or outlet, but avoid loose loops that can be snagged. Keep the colors visible at inspection points. The Deluxe kit assists identification; it does not replace labels for similar-looking supplements or a written installation diagram.
Routing and commissioning
After the external path is installed, prime each head until supplement is present at the end of the outlet tube before calibration. Red Sea explains that calibration is supplement-specific because viscosity and small component differences influence delivered volume. A head must be calibrated when first used for a new supplement and recalibrated after replacement of the head’s internal dosing tube. The external Deluxe tubing is not that internal wear tube, so the two maintenance tasks should not be confused. When a route is altered, a container is changed or air has entered a line, verify the prime and check delivery before relying on an automatic schedule. Use the ReefDose procedure and measuring cylinder rather than estimating by eye.
Maintenance
Inspect the accessible line from container to outlet during normal cabinet checks. Look for disconnection, abrasion, flattened bends, residue near joints, trapped air and an outlet that has moved. Clean external surfaces in a way appropriate to the supplement and avoid pulling the tube sideways against a hose barb. Red Sea gives a replacement recommendation for the internal tube inside each dosing head, but the reviewed sources do not give a fixed replacement interval for the external Deluxe tubing; this profile therefore does not invent one. Replace an external run when its condition, seal or routing is doubtful, then prime and verify the channel again. Keep the original color assignment when replacing only part of a route.
