The Köhlmoos brothers began developing early JUWEL designs in 1966 and formally founded JUWEL Aquarium GmbH & Co. KG in 1969. The chronology therefore separates the design phase from the corporate start; the current imprint uses JUWEL Aquarium AG & Co. KG.

JUWEL designs integrated systems in which tank, cabinet, filter, heater and lighting work as one coordinated product. Bioflow filters, LED lamps, heating modules, backgrounds and accessories preserve this internal compatibility, aimed mainly at household freshwater aquariums.

The company is based in Rotenburg (Wümme), Germany, where the brand concentrates its technical and manufacturing identity. Changes in legal form do not alter the 1969 founding date, and company documentation continues to recognize the Köhlmoos brothers’ role in creating the JUWEL system. Standardized components allow individual parts to be replaced or upgraded while retaining the aquarium frame and matching cabinet.
