Fauna Marin

Fauna Marin was started in 2001 by Claude Schuhmacher, initially in a garage in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The project emerged from marine trade, coral culture, and initiatives linked to an export facility in the Philippines; the operation later moved to Altdorf and then, in 2006, to Holzgerlingen. The present Fauna Marin GmbH is based there, with Schuhmacher serving as managing director.

The range includes coral and fish foods, salts, trace elements, Balling Light solutions, filter media, reactors, skimmers, and products for nutrient and pest control. Its laboratory offers ICP and other water analyses, turning results into dosing recommendations. In-house coral propagation connects product development with operating reef systems, especially SPS and LPS culture, and remains a visible part of the company’s identity.

Fauna Marin functions simultaneously as manufacturer, laboratory, and propagation centre, a combination less common among reef-chemistry brands. The company refers to more than thirty-five years of personal sector experience, but 2001 is the documented Fauna Marin business date and should not be backdated to Schuhmacher’s earlier career. The Philippine structure and original partners belong to the initial phase; the subsequent German development was led by Schuhmacher.
