Deltec has operated in marine-aquarium technology since 1980 and is based in Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony. It describes itself as a family business rooted in the region and a pioneer of seawater filtration. Current official material states 1980 explicitly, clarifying an earlier, less precise reference to about forty-five years of activity; it does not, however, name an individual founder with certainty.
The brand is associated above all with protein skimmers and states that it was the first supplier of needle-wheel models. It also makes fluidized-media and calcium reactors, pumps, filters, complete systems, and water-treatment products. Solutions serve private aquariums, retailers, zoos, aquaculture, research facilities, and universities, with standard models and projects designed for very large water volumes.
Several lines are manufactured in Delmenhorst under the “Handmade in Germany” description, while components and suppliers may also come from Germany, Europe, and the Far East. In June 2017 a generational transition was completed and the long-standing family company was sold to a new entrepreneur, retaining its site and team. Deltec GmbH is the present entity; the 2017 sale does not alter the 1980 operating origin.
