Colombo

Colombo was founded in the Netherlands in 1984 by veterinarian and fish specialist Dr. Mario Blom. Its first products were medicines for fish, a field that continued to define the brand's technical identity. Growth led the company to move to Ooltgensplaat in 2005 and, in 2022, to a new facility on Franse Akker in Breda, bringing laboratory, production and group activities into the same operating campus.

The range includes medicines for freshwater, marine and pond fish, tests, water treatments, algae control, supplements, substrates, fertilizers, CO2 products and lines for plants and reptiles. Colombo says every product is developed and repeatedly tested in its own laboratory and then manufactured at its Dutch factory. Medicines are produced under GMP procedures, connecting formulation, control and traceability.

Colombo is part of Aquatic Wholesale Group and works with sister companies specializing in distribution, plants, ornamental fish, aquaculture and food. That structure broadens the application context beyond a consumer-products shelf while keeping Colombo focused on animal health and environmental quality. The progression from veterinary medicine to complete care for aquariums, ponds and terrariums is the central line of the company's development.
