Aqua Illumination

AquaIllumination, commonly shortened to AI, began in 2007 as the activity of C2 Development, Inc. in Ames, Iowa. The team designed, assembled and tested LED aquarium systems locally at a time when digital spectrum control was entering the reef market. In 2014 AI and EcoTech Marine combined their ownership structures while retaining distinct brands and product lines.

The range concentrates on programmable LED lighting and controllable pumps. Prime, Hydra, Blade and Edge families cover marine, reef and freshwater applications, while Nero, Axis and Orbit handle circulation or return-water duties. Apps and integrations connect intensity, color channels, schedules and devices, with functions that have evolved across several hardware generations.

The brand combines electronics, software and compact design to limit the visual presence of equipment. Service and the current operating address are in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, shared with EcoTech and other Aperture Pet & Life activities. EcoTech, LLC provides the current warranty, while C2 Development remains the historical company that built AquaIllumination in Ames. Corporate evolution has therefore integrated AI into a wider platform without removing its identity or catalogue.
