The Cubaris 'Tangerine'. A very rare and exquisite Asian isopod (0.5 - 0.6 inches) coveted for its extraordinary color. Unlike the brown shades of the Amber, the Tangerine exhibits a very smooth solid mandarin orange or neon peach carapace, often bordered or crossed by impalpable lateral translucent detachments. Very shy and prone to phobias for light, it is a very delicate jewel that demands maniacal care, deep tropical gradients and specialized calcareous foods to avert lethal molt collapses.

Geographical Origin and Habitat: Turbid and karst jungles of Southeast Asia, buried alive under endless carpets of roots and wet Thai foliage.
Taxonomy and Genetics: Family Armadillidae. (Fluorescent Ceramic Isopod). Belongs to the nobility of the undescribed Cubaris sp. Although 'Orange' or 'Peach' morphs exist in genera like Porcellio or Armadillidium, the Cubaris Tangerine elevates the mutation to an alien level thanks to its perfectly enameled barrel-shaped body and flawless Asian hermetic conglobation.
Behavior and Habits: Phobic mandarin candies. Agoraphobic to the extreme. Their fluorescent genetics would make them living bait in the woods, so instinct paralyzes them in the dark. They dig and station all year round stuck among the porosities of hot calcareous rocks or in the asphyxiating moss and never wander outdoors. Atrociously slow fertility rate: every aborted egg due to visual stress is a burning financial defeat.
Morphology: Total perfect enameled candy dome (Up to 0.6 inches / 1.5 cm). Very smooth opalescent carapace Neon Mandarin Orange or acid peach color, free of invasive dark spots or bands. In some specimens the epimeral lobes (hips) are slightly more diaphanous, as if the solid orange body faded into transparent molten glass. Contrasting alien black eyes.
